Día de Muertos
Day Of The Dead - 28th Oct - 2nd Nov
About Día de Muertos
Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. It is a colourful and festive tribute to deceased loved ones, blending indigenous Aztec customs with Catholicism. Families create elaborate ofrendas (altars) adorned with marigolds, candles, sugar skulls, and the favourite foods of the departed.
These offerings are believed to guide spirits back to the living for a joyful reunion. Parades, music, and traditional dances fill the streets, and people paint their faces as calacas (skeletons) or Catrinas. Día de Muertos serves as a joyful and culturally rich commemoration of the cycle of life and death, emphasizing the importance of cherishing memories and honouring the deceased.
